Storm Damage Repair
Wind and hail damage inspected, documented with photos and repaired. Emergency tarping when the roof is open to the weather.
When a storm or a fallen limb opens your roof, every hour of rain adds to the damage inside. A tarp installed the right way keeps the house dry until the roof can be repaired.
A tarp thrown over a hole and weighed down with bricks will be gone in the next gust. We run the tarp from above the damage, over the ridge where possible, and down past it so water sheds over the top. The edges are wrapped around boards and fastened so the wind cannot get under them.
Done properly, a tarp holds through wind and rain until the permanent repair is scheduled.
Stay off the roof. A wet, damaged roof is dangerous, and so is anything near downed lines. Inside, move furniture and electronics, put buckets under drips and take photos of the damage for your records. Then call the Hoff office nearest you.

A tarp is temporary. Once the roof is covered we inspect the full extent of the damage and give you a written estimate for the repair or replacement, so the fix can be scheduled without delay.

A tarp is a short-term cover. Sun and wind break it down over a period of weeks, so the permanent repair should be scheduled as soon as possible.
We do not recommend it. A wet or damaged roof is a serious fall hazard, and a tarp that is not fastened correctly will leak or blow off. It is safer to have it done by a roofing crew.
A tarp is secured with fasteners through boards at its edges. Those few fastener points are repaired along with the storm damage when the permanent work is done.

A properly installed tarp sheds water over the damaged area and keeps the house dry in normal rain. It is a temporary measure, not a repair.
Yes. After the roof is covered we inspect the damage and give you a written estimate for the permanent repair.

Leaks, missing shingles, failed flashing and storm damage fixed properly, so the repair lasts as long as the roof around it.
We find where the water actually gets in, which is rarely where the stain shows, and fix it at the source.
