Roof Replacement
A full tear-off and a new roof system, installed by a crew led by an Amish craftsman and priced with a written estimate.
Asphalt shingles cover most homes in southeastern Pennsylvania for good reason. They handle our weather, come in a wide range of colors and give the best value per year of service when they are installed correctly.
Three-tab shingles are flat, a single layer thick and the least expensive. Architectural shingles, also called dimensional or laminated shingles, are thicker, with layers bonded together to give the roof depth and better resistance to wind. Most new roofs today use architectural shingles.
We will show you samples, explain the differences in plain terms and help you pick a color that suits the house.
How long a shingle roof lasts depends as much on what is under and around the shingles as on the shingles themselves. That means a sound deck, ice and water shield where water backs up, underlayment across the whole roof, metal drip edge, starter strips at the eaves and rakes, and flashing fitted at every wall and penetration.
It also means nails placed where the manufacturer says they go. A shingle nailed too high or overdriven is a shingle waiting to slide or blow off.

Good shingles installed badly fail early. Our lead installer is Amish, and the crew works to a craftsman standard: clean lines, correct nailing and flashing that is cut and fitted, not smeared with sealant. We use quality materials and stand behind the work with our name.

Three-tab shingles are a single flat layer. Architectural shingles are made of bonded layers, which makes them thicker, heavier and better at resisting wind. Architectural shingles are now the standard choice for most homes.
It depends on the shingle, the installation, attic conditions and the weather it sees. Manufacturers publish warranty terms for each product, and we will go over those with you for the shingle you choose.
A square is 100 square feet of roof surface. Roofers measure and price roofs by the square, so a 2,000 square foot roof surface is 20 squares.
We match the style and color as closely as possible. Because shingles weather over time, a new section may look a little different until it ages.
Granules protect the asphalt from the sun. Some loss is normal on a new roof. Heavy loss on an older roof, with bare dark patches showing, means the shingles are wearing out.
Shingles need enough slope to shed water. Where the pitch is too low for shingles, we install a flat roofing membrane instead.

Leaks, missing shingles, failed flashing and storm damage fixed properly, so the repair lasts as long as the roof around it.
